Glossop were crowned the first champions on finals day at the Moss Rose on Sunday with a convincing 4-1 win over Neston Nomads of the East Division, in the Championship Division Cup. Manager Billy Greenall spoke to us about his joy on winning the cup.
"We've played some cracking football this season both in the league but especially the cup".
"Promotion at the end of the season is great but securing our first piece of silverware makes it a little more worthwhile".
"It's a fantastic occasion for them to be involved in. It helps them to cope with pressure and readies them for that step into semi professional football and beyond".
Greenall took over early on in the season and he discusses how the season has gone throughout his tenure at the club over the campaign.
"The transition was a little rocky as our results shown mid-season, but the last couple of months have been fantastic".
"Winning the cup Sunday certainly helped with the regrets we have regarding the league but to be promoted will certainly be a solid achievement for us".
"The lads haven't stopped improving since playing in this league, it's a good standard. We just want to go out, play our last three games our way and hopefully score some more goals".
Glossop finish the season with two home games against Cheadle Town and Poynton, as well as visiting top of the table Sale United.
