Southport were crowned champions of the Premier Division Cup on Sunday, in which they came back from a two-goal deficit to win 4-3.
We spoke to Southport Manager Cameron Foster about Sunday's cup win, the season so far and the progress of his team in the Premier Division.
"I am really happy for the lads and proud of the performance they put in to fight back and win the final. They deserved that tonight for all the hard work they have put in so far".
"It was a great experience for the players as it makes a real occasion for the day. We met up for a team lunch at 2pm, had a social few games of pool, team meeting and we headed to the ground".
Foster was pleased with the teams show of character to come from 2 goals behind.
"This has probably been our biggest success as a group. We had a couple of difficult games in January where as a team we lacked leaders and players who were willing to get in to a battle and stuck in".
"Since then we have won 3 games that have gone to extra time and made numerous comebacks. Even when we went 2-0 down with 25 minutes to go, I knew we would get back into it".
Southport currently sit 5th in the Premier Division, with four games to go and another cup final at the Moss Rose as they face West Kirby United on May 10th.
"This season so far had been extremely enjoyable as we have seen so much improvement in every player".
"We've had 7 players go out on loan to non-league clubs and had 4 players feature in the first team squads and had Lewis Doyle make 3 appearances for the first team".
Come and watch Southport in action in their next final on the Thursday 10th May, 8pm kick-off at the Moss Rose.
